Fine, aged red burgundy, to cellar or enjoy now

With the recent focus on the new 2017 Burgundy vintage, we have almost (but not quite....) forgotten about the joys of aged burgundy.  Below is an assortment of great names, in small quantities of a case or more, spanning vintages from three decades and including some of the greatest vineyards in the Côte d'Or.

Offered in bond, most wines in single case quantities, we will confirm your order on receipt.

You can also view our 2017 Burgundy En Primeur releases here.

1990 Cortons Clos des Cortons Grand Cru, Domaine Faiveley

"Many professionals feel that Faiveley's finest wine is not their Chambertin-Clos de Beze, Mazis-Chambertin, or Clos de Vougeot, but their Corton-Clos des Cortons. It is often the most backward of their grands crus. The 1990 offers a nearly opaque purple color, a tight, but promising nose of blackcurrants, toasty new oak, oriental spices, and minerals. In the mouth, it is the most concentrated of all the Faiveley grands crus. Dense and rich, with a high level of soft tannins, this full-bodied, massively endowed wine needs at least 6-8 years of cellaring. It should keep for 20-25 years. It is one of the most impressive Cortons of the vintage.  93 points."  (RP) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (12/1992)

2002 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru, Domaine Louis Jadot

"Cask sample. Deep crimson. Very glamorous and intensely aromatic. Lots of fruit and chew. Pretty showy but no-one could dislike this wine. Dry finish with a hint of coffee bean already.  2007 to 2020. 18 points."  Jancis Robinson (21/02/2004).

1 case of 12 bottles available at £980 in bond

2004 Ruchottes Chambertin Clos des Ruchottes Grand Cru, Armand Rousseau

"A deeply pitched nose of earth, violets, herbs and truffles trimmed in a subtle touch of wood spice leads to cool, classy and refined middle weight flavors underpinned by a firm minerality that gives both lift and punch to the sparkling finish. There is real energy here and dazzling length and while it's by no means a big wine, it is an admirably harmonious and pure example.  91 points."  Allen Meadows - Burghound (1/2007)

1 case of 12 bottles available at £6600 in bond

2005 Corton Bressandes Grand Cru, Domaine Tollot-Beaut

"As it almost always is, this is more elegant than the straight Corton with an airy, pure and relatively high-toned nose of essence of red pinot fruit nuanced by bass notes of earth and minerality that continues onto the textured and very stylish flavors, all wrapped in a detailed, dusty and penetrating finish that displays perfect balance. This is really quite ripe and while it is by no means surmature, note that this does not have the coolness and reserve of a classic Bressandes." According to Jancis Robinson: "Sweet and silky and smooth. Not obvious Grand Cru quality. Halfway house – but halfway price too. Dense and yet smooth. Very long." 93 points  Allen Meadows, Burghound.

1 case of 12 bottles at £1195 in bond. Also available, 1 case of 6 magnums, £1250 in bond.

2005 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru, Nicolas Potel

"Aromas of bright red raspberry and red currant and herbal distillates inform the nose of the Potel 2005 Bonnes Mares. Remarkably smooth and polished on the palate, offering a scintillating display of smoked, peppered meats, tart berries, pungent tobacco and bitter-sweet licorice, this finishes with unusual elegance, refinement and buoyancy for a Bonnes Mares, not to mention for a wine of such sheer intensity. As with so many of the best of Potel’s 2005s, there are certainly ample tannins, but these are exceedingly refined and unobtrusive. I suspect that this is hiding significant incipient complexity and would plan on giving it a decade or more to evolve. 94-95 points" (DS) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate   (6/2007)

1 case of 6 bottles at £1080 in bond

2005 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, Nicolas Potel

"Potel’s 2005 Clos de la Roche smells sweetly of cherry liqueur, blond tobacco, honey and iris. If this were a white wine if would be a nobly sweet one. Explosively intense in the mouth, with sappy, sweet cherry, quarry dust, tobacco, pungent flowers, citrus zest, and gradually emerging hints of game, it finishes with almost indelible sweetness and complexity. 95-96 points." (DS)   Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (6/2007)

1 case of 6 bottles available at £840 in bond

2005 Nuits-St-George Aux Champs Perdrix 1er Cru, Domaine Alain Michelot

"Much softer, sweeter perfumed red fruit. Toast and toffee apple oak notes. Firm and much darker on the palate. Peppery freshness and refined power (2009 to 2014). 17 points."  Julia Harding MW, Jancis Robinson (08/2007).

1 case of 12 bottles available at £540 in bond

2006 Beaune Clos des Ursules 1er Cru, Domaine Louis Jadot

"Dullish medium red. Perfumed aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, smoke, leather and loam; smells deep! Then dense, solid and sweet, with very good vinosity and intensity to its soil-driven flavors of cherry, minerals and spicy underbrush. Plump but with a light touch. Finishes with a broad, fine dusting of tannins and good mineral persistence. This has turned out very well. 91 points"Stephen Tanzer (Mar/Apr 09)

1 case of 12 bottles available at £495 in bond

2008 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru, Domaine Hubert de Montille

"Looks pale and quite evolved. Really rather thrilling on the nose. Evolution and some tension and no ersatz sweetness. Not great depth or alcohol but very convincing terroir wine. Delicacy. And fine tannins. Clean, lingering finish. Only just ready to drink. (2012 to 2022). 17.5 points."  Jancis Robinson

3 cases of 6 bottles available at £430 per case in bond

2009 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, Domaine des Lambrays

"Beautiful aromas and flavors of sandalwood, rose, strawberry and raspberry are married to an elegant, lacy frame. Intense, yet light-weight, with fine complexity and a long, fruit- and spice-filled aftertaste. Best from 2015 through 2035. 95 points." (BS) Wine Spectator   (6/2012)

"The 2009 Clos des Lambrays is ripe, radiant and totally representative of the vintage. Silky tannins frame an expressive core of fruit in this generous, open Clos des Lambrays. The 2009 possesses striking depth and tons of richness allied to a muscular personality. I underestimated the 2009 when I tasted it from barrel. Although very much in the flashy style of the year, the 2009 also has more than enough structure to support mid-term aging at the very least. A round, caressing finish leaves a lasting impression. 94 points." (AG) Vinous (4/2012)

1 case of 6 bottles available at £950 in bond

2009 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru, Domaine Chandon de Briailles

"The 2009 Corton Clos du Roi is quite deep and intense. It shows terrific intensity in its fruit, along with plenty of structure to support aging. I especially like the way richness of the fruit carries through to the finish. This virile, imposing Burgundy needs a few years in bottle to settle down. The Corton Clos du Roi was made with 100% whole clusters and was aged in 50% new oak, the highest percentage the estate uses. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. 90-93 points (AG) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (5/2011)

1 case of 6 bottles available at £495 in bond

2009 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru, Domaine de Montille

"A relatively reticent nose is comprised by notes of warm earth, red currant and black raspberry plus a touch of forest floor. There is fine delineation and superb energy to the muscular and intense flavors that possess terrific depth as well as knock-out persistence with only a trace of austerity though I suspect that it will become more apparent once the wine is bottled. This old-school and well-balanced effort will likely require at least 15 years of cellar time before it reaches its apogee. *Don't Miss!*  93-95 points." Allen Meadows - Burghound (1/2015)

1 case of 6 bottles available at £450 in bond

2009 Nuits-St-George Les Hauts Pruliers 1er Cru, Domaine Daniel Rion

"Palish red-cherry colour. Gentle red-fruited nose. Finely structured, fine grained, changing to black fruit on the palate and richer on the palate than the Vosne. Streamlined, fresh. 2016 to 2022. 17 points." Julia Harding MW, Jancis Robinson (01/2011).

1 case of 12 bottles available at £495 in bond

2009 Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Taupenot Merme

"The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin is clearly the best of the three village wines. It possesses lovely focus in its fruit, beautifully delineated aromatics and terrific overall balance. Clean veins of minerality support the focused, energetic finish. This is a lovely showing. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (AG) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate  (4/2012)

1 case of 12 bottles available at £420 in bond

2010 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine Louis Jadot

"The nose demonstrates that this is obviously a wood-aged wine. The palate has a huge, dense structure, and the wood-derived tannins are buried within its powerful fruit and acidity. For those prepared to wait for 7–8 years, this has the potential to become rich and opulant.  97 points." (RV) Wine Enthusiast (4/2013)

1 case of 12 bottles available at £1295 in bond

2010 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, Domaine Louis Jadot

"Medium red. Tight but pure nose offers redcurrant, red cherry, minerals, flowers, licorice and menthol, plus a high note of orange zest. On the palate, terrific inner-mouth energy gives sharp definition to the intense flavors of red berries, spices and menthol. Finishes with serious, firm tannins and an impression of weightlessness. For a taut wine that's built for a graceful evolution in bottle, this is remarkably pliant today. 94 points." (ST) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (4/2013)

1 case of 12 bottles available at £1195 in bond

2010 Clos Vougeot, Le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru, Domaine Anne Gros

"Bright, deep red. Reticent but very precise and scented aromas and flavors of red cherry, orange peel, minerals and espresso, plus a piquant note of mint. Offers outstanding flavor intensity and verve, with strong acidity framing and energizing the cherry, floral and mineral flavors. Finishes with outstanding sappy grip and savory persistence. This will need extended bottle aging. 94 points." (ST) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar  (4/2013)

1 case of 12 bottles available at £2250 in bond

2010 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru, Domaine Chandon de Briailles

"Good medium red. Floral, rather delicate nose. Then sappy and expressive on the palate, with a distinctly high-toned impression to the flavors of flowers, exotic spices and minerals. The soil is like that of Corton-Charlemagne just above it, notes Claude de Nicolay, which is what gives the wine its firm acidity and limestone character. Boasts terrific tension without any impression of weight. Finishes with splendid mineral density and outstanding subtle, mounting length. The crop level here was just 15 hectoliters per hectare and the wine was aged in two 350-liter, six-year-old barrels from Domaine Dujac. Leaves the salivary glands quivering. This wine and the Bressandes should go on for decades. 93-96 points".  (ST) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar  (1/2012)

1 case of 6 bottles available at £480 in bond

2010 Echezeaux Les Loachausses, Grand Cru, Domaine Anne Gros

"(tasted from tank): Good medium red. Raspberry, blueberry, minerals and licorice on the nose, complicated by musky soil tones and perked up by orange zest. Can't quite match the razor-sharp cut of the Vosne-Romanee, but this is riper and smoother, with lovely flesh and good medicinal reserve to its sappy cherry flavor. Finishes long and ripely tannic.  91-93 points."  (ST) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

1 case of 12 bottles available at £2200 in bond

2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles St Jacques 1er Cru, Domaine Louis Jadot

"Good medium red. Brilliantly pure aromas of raspberry, crushed stone, rose petal and blood orange; showing the Chambolle side of this great premier cru. Dense, concentrated and sweet on the front half, then a bit tougher toward the back, showing a distinctly medicinal aspect. This powerfully structured, youthfully imploded wine will need at minimum of five or six years of bottle aging. 90-93 points." (ST) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine

1 case of 12 bottles available at £895 in bond

2010 Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Sylvie Esmonin

"Juicy and very fresh. Lovely texture with a hint of creamy coffee! Real energy and texture. Maybe not for the long term, but lovely. 2014 to 2020. 17 points."  Jancis Robinson.

1 case of 12 bottles available at £495 in bond

2011 Vougeot Les Petits Vougeots 1er Cru, Domaine Jean-Marie Fourrier

"Very close to Amoureuses. Very solid and substantial and chewy. Long and dry. Racy. Impressive and a long-distance runner. 2018 to 2030. 17.5 points."  Jancis Robinson (11/2012).

1 case of 6 bottles available at £560 in bond

2012 Beaune Clos des Ursules 1er Cru, Domaine Louis Jadot

"The 2012 Beaune Clos des Ursules is the most lifted and refined of the Beaune 1er Crus from Jadot. Sweet raspberries, tobacco, freshly cut flowers, mint and cinnamon meld together gracefully in the glass. The Ursules is distinguished from the other Beaunes by its silky tannins and fabulous length. There is plenty of richness in the glass, but without the excess weight or extraction found in some of the other wines. 92-94 points." (AG) Vinous (1/2014)

1 case of 12 bottles available at £440 in bond

2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru, Domaine Louis Jadot

"Saturated deep red. Superripe yet sappy aromas of black and red fruits, crushed stone and smoky minerality. Then extremely suave and refined on the palate, and distinctly red in character, with dense strawberry, raspberry and crushed stone flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity. Ripe but classically dry wine, finishing with lovely tangy floral lift, fine-grained tannins and terrific cut. This is Jadot's vinification, and it shows!  91-94 points." Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (1/2014)

1 case of 6 bottles available at £280 in bond

2012 Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Ghislaine Barthod

"Gorgeously fragrant. Sweetly scented red fruit with the merest hint of vanilla sweetness. Then dry and all wound up on the palate, the perfume held captive for now by the structure, with each sip leaving you wanting the next. The persistence and balance promise a long future, much longer than many village wines in this vintage. 17 points."  (JH) Jancis Robinson (1/2014)

1 case of 12 bottles available at £560 in bond

2012 Vosne Romanee Les Chaumes 1er cru, Domaine Louis Jadot

"Rich and almost burnt. What a seductive but loose wine this is! Quite different from its stablemates. Lighter, more transparent with real delicacy.  (2015 to 2025). 17 points."  Jancis Robinson

1 case of 12 bottles available at £660 in bond

2012 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru , Domaine Joseph Voillot

"Very similar nose to their Champans, with the exception that the oak is less overt here. Drier tannins too, and the fruit has better density and drive. 17 points."  Richard Hemming MW, Jancis Robinson.

1 case of 12 bottles available at £495 in bond

2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Etelois, Domaine Benjamin Leroux

"Intoxicating medicinal and iodine character, then a lovely, charming fresh strawberry fruit. Very light brush of tannin, modest length with just a slight mustiness. (2015 to 2020).  16 points." Richard Hemming MW, Jancis Robinson

1 case of 6 bottles available at £260 in bond
