Today The UK Triggers Article 50 but your Intellectual Property is Safe.
Today, the 29 March 2017, the UK will hand deliver to the European Council, notice under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty of its intention to withdraw from the EU, which starts the clock ticking on the two years of negotiation before Brexit occurs. The UK will remain a full member of the EU during this period which means existing European Patents and EU Trade Marks and Designs are unaffected today and will remain unaffected until at least March 2019. Moreover, European Patent rights are not governed by EU law so will be unaffected after we exit, whatever form the exit takes. We anticipate that the negotiations will ensure that all EU Trade Marks & Designs will remain in full effect in the UK after March 2019.
Stratagem IPM Ltd will continue to provide their highest quality services during the Article 50 negotiation period and after the UK has left the EU. If you have any concerns please do contact us. We shall be providing further news as it emerges.
